Global Baby Foods and Infant Formula Market to Reach US$ 23.8 Billion by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.
San Jose, CA (Vocus) June 15, 2010
Spending on baby products will continue for as long as the desire to become parents flourishes among mankind. Market for baby food and infant formula has historically been the largest beneficiary of birth rate indices. The market for baby foods and infant formula products posts sanguine growth patterns for the upcoming years, backed largely by the declining breast feeding rates, and affluent, and well-educated parents with high levels of disposable incomes. Also, the trend among couples to postpone marriage and having kids in later years after gaining financial security will help fortify demand for high-end baby products. Baby foods market is traditionally resilient to economic cycles, as formula and infant foods are not considered a luxury but a ‘necessity’ that cannot be substituted, and the importance accorded to health, and well-being in general. Despite the rocky economic conditions, the premium positioned organic baby foods market is cushioned because of associated consumer perceptions, value propositions and higher tolerance for price increases. Product effectiveness will become an important factor as parents begin to seek nutritive, and functional benefits from products. Benefiting from significant investments both in terms of product innovation and marketing, worldwide market for baby foods and formulas has emerged into a lucrative industry churning out top dollars for market participants.
As stated by the new market research report on Baby Foods and Infant Formula, the US, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, together accounting for approximately 82% of the global baby foods and infant formula market estimated in 2009. In certain regional markets, premium products are expected to take the brunt of lower consumer disposable incomes, and reduction in household wealth. Fortified formula products, specialized formula products that are designed to address needs of special infants, and soy-milk based formulas are rising in popularity.
Like any other industry, baby foods and infant formula products also contend with skepticism, unethical marketing practices, and conflicting scientific evidence surrounding the actual health and nutrition benefits of many widely publicized compounds, and ingredients. With several reports of melamine contaminated milk products jeopardizing the health of babies, the baby foods and formula market has received a major setback. A direct fallout of which is weakening consumer confidence, and lacerated product credibility. To ensure optimum protection for children from unscrupulous manufacturing practices, the need of the hour is strong governmental intervention.
Key players in this marketplace include Abbott Nutrition, Earth’s Best, Groupe Danone SA, HJ Heinz, Hero AG, Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation, Organix Brands Ltd, Mead Johnson Nutrition, Morinaga Milk Industry, Nestle S.A., Gerber Products Company, SMA Nutrition, Synutra International Inc, and Wakodo Co. Ltd. among others.
The report titled “Baby Foods and Infant Formula: A Global Strategic Business Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a review of noteworthy market trends, growth drivers and challenges. The report in addition also enumerates recent acquisitions, and other strategic industry activities. The report offers latent demand estimates and projections for world Baby foods and Infant formula market by product segments, such as, Infant Formula, Baby Meals, Baby Cereals, Baby Juices/Drinks, and Baby Biscuits/Rusks.

Can?t Afford Nice Things for Your Infant? Think Outside the Baby Mega-store Box
Posted by: | CommentsCan’t Afford Nice Things for Your Infant? Think Outside the Baby Mega-store Box
Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) July 5, 2006
For many low to medium income families, providing for their newborn and toddlers can be a major source of anxiety and financial strain. Browsing the prices at your local baby store can easily drive a shopper into sticker shock. Fortunately, there is a viable alternative. The garage sale.
According to the owners of http://www.YardHopper.com one of the most common items you will find at a garage sale is baby stuff. They say about 4 out of 10 sales posted on their website offer items for newborns and toddlers. In some cases, many of these items are almost brand new!.
There are a few reasons for this. Not only do infants grow really fast and grow out of their clothing, carriers and high chairs, but also, when a family is expecting their first child, they go to their local BabiesRUs and register for a bunch of stuff they THINK they will need. The fact is, the only things they really need are diapers, burping cloths, onesies, and a diaper genie. That is pretty much all they need. They end up with swings, bouncy chairs, boppys, Baby-Bjorns and many other items that they and/or their child may use once and shortly thereafter it begins collecting dust. Enter the garage sale. A brand new baby bjorn can cost as much as $ 120.00. Finding s slightly used one at a garage sale for $ 30.00 would be a steal. Buying toys at a baby mega-store can cost a lot. Often times, infants play with a toy once and then shove it aside. These are great finds at a garage sale. The point is, there are great deals to be had on relatively new items.
When shopping for infant products at a garage sale, use caution. Buying from a garage sale comes with a few risks. It is no secret that babies spit up and use the bathroom quite often. It is very important to wash and/or sterilize just about any item that you purchase from a garage sale. Many baby safety products (car seats, swings, chairs, etc…) are regularly upgraded and improved upon for safety regulations. If purchasign a car seat that was manufactured 5 years ago, it may not be equipped with the most recent safety technology. Another thing to watch out for are items that have been recalled. Infant products are recalled every day. To determine if an item has been recalled, visit the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision at http://www.cpsc.gov .
In closing, providing for a newborn or toddler does not always have to break the bank. Garage sales offer a great alternative to the inflated prices of most baby mega-stores. With the proper caution and selection, there are great items to be found for newborns.

babykick Fights Stillbirth During Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
Posted by: | Comments
Manhattan Beach, CA (PRWEB) October 12, 2007
babykick (www.babykick.com), manufacturer of kickTrak Smart Kick Counter, is supporting Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month by raising awareness of the least talked about pregnancy complication–stillbirth. babykick today announces its partnership with the nation’s leading organizations dedicated to infant health and survival–First Candle/SIDS Alliance and MISS Foundation.
Research has shown that daily monitoring of fetal movement can alert expecting mothers and their doctors to possible pregnancy problems, thus reducing the delay of intervention and the risk of stillbirth. kickTrak Smart Kick Counter offers expecting mothers an easy, reliable method for accurately recording their baby’s movements during pregnancy.
“Over 70 new parents in the United States face the devastation of stillbirth every day,” says Diep Nguyen, M.D., founder of babykick and the Babykick Foundation. “A simple educational effort will greatly reduce the number of stillbirths. Healthcare providers need to educate moms on the importance of kick counting, which is recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as a way for moms to check on their baby’s well-being.”
kickTrak is also available from First Candle (www.firstcandle.org) and the MISS Foundation (www.MISSFoundation.org) Web sites and babykick will donate a portion of proceeds from the online sales of kickTrak to each respective charity. The MISS Foundation provides crisis support and long term aid to families who have suffered the death of a child from any cause. First Candle is dedicated to the fight against Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, miscarriage and stillbirth.
