Columbus, Ohio Mother Launches Breastfeeding Advocacy Product Line
Posted by: | CommentsColumbus, Ohio Mother Launches Breastfeeding Advocacy Product Line
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) December 30, 2004
A Columbus, Ohio mother of two has created a new product line enabling moms, dads, babies, and kids Â? and anyone else who is passionate about breastfeeding Â? to promote and support this important healthy start to a babyÂ?s life. MamaÂ?s Milk Tees, found at http://www.mamasmilktees.com on the World Wide Web, provides a wide range of designs on everything from t-shirts, sweatshirts, and baby bibs to mugs, prints, and calendars.
The designs by store owner Anna Swank range from somewhat subtle to in-your-face. Says Swank, Â?I realize that not everyone is as brazen about breastfeeding as I am, but there are also those who are even more outspoken than I am. My line includes products that cater to both ends of the spectrum.Â? Swank goes on to say she created the line primarily out of frustration. Â?After my son was born, I scoured the internet and retail stores for fun shirts that promoted breastfeeding. By the time I had my daughter, I realized that if I wanted to wear such items, I was going to have to create them myself.Â?
Although the initial designs were primarily text and cartoon images, new designs display images of real babies breastfeeding. Many of the photographs used were contributed by women around the world who share SwankÂ?s passion for breastfeeding, and believe that breastmilk is the healthiest food a mother can give her baby.
The US Department of Health and Human Services Office on WomenÂ?s Health recently launched a National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign to promote breastfeeding. The overall goal of the campaign is to increase the proportion of breastfed newborn babies to 75%, and the proportion of six month old babies to 50% by the year 2010. Swank believes that raising awareness about breastfeeding among the general public is an important step in reaching these goals. Â?For years, bottle-feeding has been the perceived norm among the general population,Â? says Swank. Â?Sadly, many breastfeeding mothers have been relegated to backrooms and dirty bathrooms to feed their babies. I hope that the fun and encouraging messages of my designs will help these mothers feel comfortable feeding their babies wherever they happen to be. After all, itÂ?s not really about a motherÂ?s right to breastfeed. ItÂ?s about a babyÂ?s right to eat.Â?

http://www.letsbreastfeed.com is now announcing the release of a series of programs on breastfeeding tips available for download. This product launch is scheduled to coincide with the company’s campaign for celebrating and promoting breastfeeding which will occur on the week of May 10th.
This new, unique collection of online programs will cover all the common problems associated with breastfeeding. In these programs, practical solutions are offered including breastfeeding tips which are uniquely tailored to the needs of each individual. These programs were developed through years of research and drawing on ideas gathered from working with a large number of mothers.
Company founder Geraldine, has been helping mothers learn proper breastfeeding techniques for the past 6 years. She reports one client, Janet White, who called her late one night complaining of severe engorgement and possible mastitis. By accessing one of the online programs, Janet was instantly provided with a simple yet detailed plan to follow which afforded her and her husband clear steps to follow, in order to recover.
Breastfeeding Awareness Week is scheduled to take place during the 10th to the 16th of May and Geraldine and her team will promote the practical aspects of breastfeeding as well as the benefits. The goal of this event is to reduce the pressure that moms feel by teaching them how to breastfeed correctly. Even though breastfeeding is natural, it is a skill that must be learned and practiced.
