Its not unusual that, many women that have had past due dates , low amniotic fluids or are interested in convenience, want to find a way to naturally induce labor at home. We probably realize that alot of mothers to be will have labor induced using “normal means” at the hospital -Lately I have seen a huge increase of pregnant women that seem to think that using methods that will Induce Labor at home, without drugs are the better method.
We normally want to refer to the fact that child birth was happening long before drugs and all the other “advanced” techniques that are used today. Of course, I do realize that things ARE safer today, and that the percentages of babies AND mothers that live through child birth are much higher -and so I also undertsand which techniques have there place and time.
If we can begin labor -without all the extras – it should be a no-brainer. Personally, I have faced this decision.
No Rest
Not enough patience
What about maternity leave
Constant discomfort -that is always there
And of course, there is the concern of having a healthy child
And most of all-YOUR GOING TO BE A PARENT!
And there are many different methods that are used to induce labor. And personally I am not sure if they all work – or which ones are better than the others. Of course, there is 1 method that has been proven to work, safely and risk free. Not only do I trust that it works because of experience, but this method has been researched and deemed appropriate by several different Health Agencies. Remember, though, that nipples stimulation must be done for no longer than five minutes at a time and that breaks should last as long as fifteen minutes in between. Number three: Sex. Sex can help induce labor in two ways. First, like nipple stimulation, it releases a hormone called oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. This lets your hips sway from side to side, bringing your baby into a position where he or she can be born. Walking also lets gravity bring the baby down further into the pelvis, and can help relieve early pains. Number seven: Complementary therapies. If you feel comfortable with it, you could try acupuncture, massage, teas, herbs, or other homeopathic solutions.
